Julie Frampton
Although her first passion is oil painting, since 2017 Julie has divided her time between oil painting and working in a very different medium - using unspun wool and a barbed needle to create wool art. She has developed and grown this needle felting process over the years and now mainly uses linen and other fabrics as her ‘canvas’ to work on - giving the pictures a more natural look. Julie specialises in creating pictures of animals and birds and is regularly commissioned for pet portraits; she takes great pride in capturing the essence and personality of each animal. Julie’s experience as an oil painter enables her to bring a ‘painterly’ quality to her wool artworks and to experiment with different fabrics as her background ‘canvas’ which adds a unique dimension. Although residing near Tunbridge Wells Kent, Julie’s studio is at Brownings Farm Workshops in Blackboys - Sussex, where she creates her wool art and her oil paintings. Studio visits - by appointment. She has exhibited and sold her oil paintings and wool art at exhibitions and galleries across the South East.
